THE body of Gauteng teenager Jason Pretorius, who drowned with two school friends in the sea near Mossel Bay during a boat outing two weeks ago, has been found four kilometres from the spot where he was last seen.

NSRI Mossel Bay station commander Dawie Zwiegelaar said yesterday a member of the public discovered the body washed up on Dwarsweg Beach, east of the Great Brak River mouth, on Sunday morning.

Southern Cape police spokesman Captain Malcolm Pojie said Pretorius, 16, was identified by his clothing. He said the boy‘s parents had been informed.

Pretorius was with a group of pupils from Die Anker high school in Brakpan who were on a tour of the Southern Cape.

Their team-building exercise at Great Brak River on mini rubber ducks ended in tragedy when three of the four vessels capsized.

Nine pupils, all wearing life jackets, were thrown into the ocean. The other two who drowned were Darius Kruger and Michael Eager, both 17. Pojie said an inquest was pending.
